News from the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Series 23 ministry team
in Dominican Republic led by Malcolm and Yanet Taylor   30th May 2018.

The last couple of months have been extremely busy for the YWAM Series 23 ministry in San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic.

We have been focusing our efforts on three main areas:

  • Raising up our local volunteer team
  • Leading Marriage Courses
  • Local evangelistic programing

We are currently blessed with some great local volunteers, who over the last few months, led by Malcolm & Yanet Taylor, have been growing together as a team.

Every Monday the team comes together with times of worship, prayer, Bible devotions, teaching and ministry opportunities. We have got to know each one of them through gift and personality profiles, evangelistic teaching, prayer and through ministry outreaches.

In July we will be running a 16 week missions training program to further equip these men and women of God.

Our core program has been our Marriage Course where we have had the privilege of leading over 50 couples into closer relationships.

With material provided by Alpha, we have seen an encouraging response to this course and now have a further six Churches signed up to receive the seven week course in the rest of 2018.

Our desire is to be able to expand this program where we can teach a group of local volunteers to run the courses and also to expand into the pre-marital, parenting and youth courses that Alpha also offers.

One of the desires of YWAM Series 23 is to be a mobilizer of Christians into the mission field. Through our partnership with the Bible League and the Global Outreach Day, we are leading the effort in San Pedro de Macoris to promote local evangelistic programs. These don't have to be big events, but where everyday people can be equipped to share the Gospel message, with a concentration of programs on the last Saturday of May every year. We hosted our first training session with over 75 local pastors and leaders and plan to expand the program into 2019.
Our local volunteers joined with us this last Saturday in promoting this event through radio programs, bringing a Christian message into a local public school and sharing 'Coffee and Love' in the local park. With a full day of activities we had many opportunities to share, pray with people and help lead people to know Christ.

activities for YWAM Series 23 in San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic. Our year began with an incredible Night of Missions where we had a full Church of youth, pastors and local Christians who came for a night of celebration with local and national music artists, dance presentations from YWAM Santo Domingo, a declaration of Evangelism and a time of praying for our ministry programs in San Pedro de Macoris.

Malcolm and Yanet have been fully involved in the centenary celebrations of the arrival of the first pentecostal missionaries in the Dominican Republic. With weeks of planning, the three day celebration was a busy time for us with Yanet being involved in producing radio and TV promotions and pre show interviews at the baseball stadium of San Pedro de Macoris. 4th Image from the YWAM Series 23 January 2018 news sheet

Malcolm participated with the multimedia team producing on screen media presentations in the stadium with an estimated 15,000 people and thousands more watching via streaming media and local TV stations.

The marriage course is based on material from Alpha in the UK, and consists of providing an intimate setting and guiding the couples through the teaching and accompanying workbook.
